COVID-19 cases tick upwards over the weekend

As we enter the second month of the COVID-19 pandemic locally, the number of positive cases continues to increase. According to data released by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Sunday afternoon, there are nearly 25,000 people in Michigan who have tested positive for the disease. Additionally, about 1500 Michiganders have died from the virus. Locally, numbers ticked upwards in St. Clair County. Two additional deaths were reported over the weekend for a total of six county-wide fatalities attributed to the virus. The case count in Sanilac County held relatively steady over the weekend, up only one case for a total of 23. Two Sanilac County residents have died so far from the virus. Lapeer County Cases broke the 100 mark over the weekend, now with 101 positive tests and six attributable deaths. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports that 433 statewide COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease.
