Drivers who regularly travel Allen Road or I-69 in Kimball Townhip should plan for possible delays and detours as work begins on the overpass this week. Starting Monday, the Michigan Department of Transportation is closing Allen Road to begin a $2.1 million bridge project – which includes deck replacement, beam repairs, and surface treatments. Intermittent lane closures on I-69 will take place throughout the project, with two weekend full-closures planned – one scheduled for this coming weekend and another near the project’s expected completion in July. Allen Road traffic will be detoured using Griswold, Lapeer, and Range roads.
