Port Huron City council meets this evening. Among the items on the agenda are the acceptance of proposals for a new wireless broadband network for Downtown Port Huron and new audio and visual equipment for the Municipal Office Center.

Coming in at just over $200,000, the bid from WZC Networking will see Wi-Fi equipment equipment installed on city owned light posts in an area between Bard Street and Water Street. Funds will come from a Federal coronavirus grant as well as a Huntington Bank grant.

Also tonight, council will be asked to approve $60,000 bid from Advanced Lighting and Sound calls for new microphones, speakers, and video streaming equipment in the public meeting room at the Municipal Office Center. This will be funded by American Rescue Plan Act Dollars, and follows several months of audio issues during council meetings.

Finally, council will be asked to schedule special elections for May 7th of next year for a Blue Water Area Transit millage and city streets millage. Tonight’s meeting to take place at 7pm at the Municipal Office Center.
