The victim who was fatally stabbed in what is believed to be a drug deal gone bad in Port Huron Township has been identified. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office says 19 year old Jovonte Thurman of Mt. Clemens died as a result of stab wounds. He was found dead early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop at Military and Reid Port Huron. The incident stemmed from a suspected drug deal earlier that morning at 25th and Dixon in Port Huron Township. Several suspects remain housed in the St. Clair County Jail and the incident is still under investigation.

A Wednesday morning drug deal gone awry is believed responsible for one man’s death and injuries to two others. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call around 4am Wednesday morning where they discovered a 21 year old lying on the ground in the area of 25th Street and Dixon in Port Huron Township. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds and provided deputies with a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Around 4:30am, a vehicle matching the suspect’s description was pulled over at Military and Reid Street in the City of Port Huron. Port Huron Police made contact with the suspect when it was evident that one of the passengers in the car was deceased. The victim, a 19 year old from Mount Clemens, is believed to have been fatally stabbed. Another passenger, a 21 year old from Washington Township, had stabbing injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Two other men, ages 18 and 19 from Burtchville and Roseville, as well as an 18 year old woman from Warren, were taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation and the identity of the suspects and victims have not been released.
