Statewide gasoline prices fell by about a nickel over the past week, that according to AAA of Michigan. The auto club is now reporting a statewide average daily gas price of $1.47 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is the lowest average seen since February 2016. That’s down 47 cents less than this time last month and $1.37 less than this time last year. AAA says says social distancing due to COVID-19 and record low crude oil prices continue to push pump prices down. The most expensive gas in the state is in the Upper Peninsula, and the cheapest fuel can be found in West Michigan. Pumps in Sanilac and Lapeer County are asking about $1.38 on average for a gallon of gas. St. Clair County pumps are slightly higher, asking about $1.43.
