The number of people in St. Clair County who have tested positive for COVID-19 increased by three over the past 24 hours. Additionally, another St. Clair County Resident has died from the disease. That puts the total number of cases in the county at 223 and the total number of deaths at 7 as of Tuesday afternoon. To put things in perspective, the largest single day increase in COVID-19 cases so far was one week ago, between April 6th and 7th, when 23 new cases were confirmed. “I was expecting a much higher acceleration of cases by this time,” Medical Health Officer Dr. Annette Mercatatnte told WPHM. “The only thing I can assume is that the stay at home order is working.” Also Tuesday, the health department is now reporting that 86 people have recovered from the virus in St. Clair County.
