A Capac auto supplier could be closing by this time next year. Keihin Michigan Manufacturing will idle it’s Capac facility effective February 2021. The facility makes Heating and Air Conditioning components for Honda vehicles. In a statement to WPHM, General Manager Bo Shirling confirmed the plants closure, affecting about 165 employees. “Even with the strong and steadfast efforts of associates throughout our organization, especially all associates here at our Michigan facility, we have not been able to expand new business as quickly as we had hoped,” read a press release obtained by WPHM. “We are giving our associates and the respective communities a year’s notice of this event to minimize the impact to our valuable partners.” Employees will be given a severance package including transitional medical benefits and outplacement services. According to Keihin’s website, the plant was founded in 2007 and is situated on 27 acres of land in the village of Capac.
