City councils to hold first meetings of the new year

Local municipalities will hold their first city council meetings of 2020 tonight. In Port Huron, council members are expected to accept an additional $50,000 grant from the the Tony Hawk and Ralph C. Wilson Junior Foundation towards the building of a new skate park at Optimist Park in Port Huron. Port Huron City Council is also expected to schedule two public hearings tonight. One is to hear comments from the public regarding housing and community development needs in the city. The second is to hear from ten local establishments that hold a liquor license and are currently delinquent in payment of property or income taxes.

In Marysville, council will be asked to approve a $28,000 bid from Farnsworth Floors for a new floor at the Marysville Public Safety Building. Council members will also receive a presentation tonight from the city’s accounting firm reviewing their fiscal year 2019 audit. Port Huron City Council will meet at 7pm tonight and Marysville at 7:30pm at their respective city council chambers.
