It’s an opportunity to give local children in need some help with their Christmas lists. Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office as well as other area law enforcement agencies participated in the annual “Christmas with a cop” event earlier this week. A total of 118 students identified underprivileged were able to spend $150 dollars for themselves or their family members at the Fort Gratiot Meijer Tuesday. The shoppers were nominated by administrators and teachers from schools across St. Clair County, based on need and achievement. The kids were accompanied by Sheriff’s Deputies, police officers from Port Huron, Marysville, Yale and Clay Township; Michigan State Police troopers; and federal agencies. Following the shopping event, each child was also given a turkey and all the fixings for Christmas dinner.
