After being grounded for nearly a year and a a half, there is a potential buyer for the ferry that runs between Marine City and Sombra, Ontario. The Bluewater Ferry was grounded in January 2018 when ice buildup damaged the causeway. Since then the U.S. customs office in Marine City has shut down. But according to Marine City Mayor Dave Vandenbossche, an investment group from Ontario has offered to buy the ferry and re-open it, but only if the government will re-open the customs office.
