Justin Verlander shut down the Tigers on Wednesday night as the Houston Astro beat Detroit 5-1 for their 8th straight win and a sweep in a three game series at Comerica Park. Verlander went seven innings allowing just a run on two hits, while striking out nine. The Tigers got a home run from Jacoby Jones and look to snap a three game losing streak on Thursday afternoon, when they open a four game series with Oakland in Detroit.
