The Port Huron Planning Commission has approved a special use permit for a nearly 21,000 square foot boat storage building on Desmond Landing in the City of Port Huron. Earlier this week, Acheson Ventures sought the permit for a new building located in the 1,000 block of Third Street, adjacent to the current Desmond Marine boat storage building. In a meeting of the Port Huron Planning Commission Wednesday evening, commissioners received letters from neighboring businesses and residents who expressed concerns about the facility blocking views of the St. Clair River. The Planning Commission also approved a similar permit for an 8,000 square foot boat repair facility also located in the same block of Third Street.
