Gas station robbery suspect facing felony charges

The man arrested in connection to an attempted robbery earlier this week at a Downtown Port Huron gas station has been arraigned. 22-year old Joel Edward Parker is facing one count of unarmed robbery, a fifteen year felony, after engaging in a fight with the clerk of the Marathon Gas Station on Military Street Monday Morning. According to the Port Huron Police Department, Parker entered the store around 7:30am where the demanded money from the 29 year old male store clerk. The fight escalated and moved moved from the store to the parking lot of the gas station. The clerk was assisted by a passer-by who detained the suspect until police arrived. The suspect and the clerk were treated for minor injuries. Parker is currently being held on a $50,000 cash bond and will appear back in court next month.

A Port Huron Man is facing charges in connection to an armed robbery at a Military Street gas station early Monday Morning. The Port Huron Police Department says a 22 year old Port Huron man walked into the Marathon Gas Station in the 1300 block of Military Street around 7:30am yesterday morning where he demanded money from the clerk. The suspect and the 29 year old clerk engaged in a fight which moved from the store to the parking lot of the gas station.The Port Huron Police Department tells WPHM that a “good Samaritan” stepped in and restrained the suspect until police arrived. Both individuals were taken to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The suspect is being held in the St. Clair County Jail where he is awaiting arraignment on armed robbery charges.
