Be wary of phone callers claiming to be with the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities say scammers have called two Lapeer County doctors, telling them they have outstanding arrest warrants and asking for money to “resolve the issue”. The calls were received from phone number 810-620-0222 and the fraudster even uses the real names of Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to seem legitimate. If you receive one of these fraudulent phone calls, report it to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s office. Authorities say outstanding arrest warrants are communicated through the mail, and that they never ask for money over the phone.
