The Michigan Legislature wants to send $175 million dollars to local municipalities to help with much needed emergency road repairs. Lansing lawmakers decided to pull the money forward from the upcoming construction season, with Local State Representative Dan Lauwers of Brockway Township saying it will be distributed to local cities and counties who need it, saying local cities and counties will be able to make their own decisions on what to do with the road repair money. Lauwers adds the money was not going to be spent in this year’s budget, so instead of waiting until next year, lawmakers decided to spend it now. The road spending is now awaiting approval from the State Senate.
