Deputy dies in Thanksgiving police chase

A Thanksgiving day police case in Lapeer and Oakland counties results in the death of a sheriff’s deputy. Near midnight on the 23rd, a pursuit began near the Lapeer County Jail with the suspect taking to westbound I-69 and then heading southbound on M-15. Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies were deploying stop sticks near the Lapeer-Oakland county border when the driver of the fleeing vehicle struck a deputy, killing him on the scene. The investigation is on-going and the suspect is in custody.
