
Hassan Whiteside’s tap at the buzzer gave the Miami Heat a huge 97-96 win over the Pistons on Tuesday night at the Palace. It was the fifth straight loss for the Pistons and their eighth in the last nine games. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 25 points, while Tobias Harris and Ish Smith each scored 19 for Detroit. With seven games left in the season the Pistons are 2 1/2 games behind the Heat for the last playoff spot in the East. Detroit will host Brooklyn on Thursday.
