Victor Martinez broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth, with a solo home run, to lift the Detroit Tigers past the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 in the first game of a huge three game series at Comerica Park. The win puts Detroit in a tie with Baltimore for the final playoff spot in the American League. JD Martinez added three hits and two RBI for the Tigers, who got seven innings from Michael Fulmer. Fulmer allowed two runs on three hits, and struck out five. Game two is Saturday night.
