The Imlay City boys soccer team advanced to the regional finals on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Saginaw Swan Valley.  The Spartans will play Williamston on Saturday evening.  Two other area teams were eliminated on Tuesday, as Marysville lost 7-0 to Cranbrook, and Memphis fell 1-0 to Harbor Beach.
The Montreal Canadiens scored just 56 seconds into overtime on Tuesday night to beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1.  Montreal had tied the score late in the third period to force OT. The Detroit Red Wings swept a home-and-home with the Toronto Maple Leafs, when Henrik Zetterberg scored with 10 seconds left in overtime to give the Wings a 1-0 win at Joe Louis Arena on Saturday night.  In his first start of the season Jonas Gustavsson made 30 saves for the shutout.  Detroit plays in Montreal on Tuesday.
