JD Martinez hit a three run home run and Brian McCann singled in two runs, as the Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros 6-2 on Friday.  The Tigers have won three in a row.  Alfredo Simon allowed no earned runs over seven innings, allowing just four hits with five strike outs, to earn the victory.  Game three of a four game set is Saturday afternoon in Detroit.
Brian McCann hit a game winning home run in the bottom of the 11th inning on Thursday to give the Tigers a 6-5 win over the Houston Astros.  Detroit blew a 5-0 lead in the late innings, but picks up its second straight win.  Nick Castellanos added a two run home run.  Game two of a four game series is Friday night at Comerica Park.
Nick Castellanos hit a three run triple in the eighth inning to break up a 2-2 tie and lift the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.  The win ened a three game losing streak for the Tigers.  Castellanos finished with two hits and four RBI for the Tigers, who begin a four game series with the Houston Astros on Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Mike Babcock is leaving the Red Wings after ten years of service to the team.  On Wednesday Babcock was named the new head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, agreeing to an eight year contract worth $50 million.  Babcock leaves the Wings as the teams all time winningest coach with 458 victories, leading the team to ten straight playoff appearances and a Stanley Cup championship in
