Non-profits seek additional volunteers during pandemic

The United Way of St. Clair County is seeking volunteers to help those in need during this time of crisis. Brent Gillette, director of the local United Way, is calling for low risk volunteers to step up and lend a hand with food distribution. He says with the help of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, there will be at least one food distribution event in the county each week. “We’ve got so many great partners… but if we don’t have the gracious volunteers in the field to make sure they get distributed, all of that effort up front is for naught,” said Gillette. He adds that proper precautions to protect volunteers are being taken. Those who wish to volunteer their time with the United Way can visit uwstclair.org/volunteer.
