A Wednesday afternoon accident on I-94 has claimed the life of a Sterling Heights man. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, 67 year old Patrick Mrachina was traveling westbound on I-94 near Church Road in Casco Township shortly after 3pm. He lost control of his pickup truck, leaving the roadway and turning on its side. Mrachina was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle. Sheriff’s deputies say the highway was icy at the time of the incident and that Mrachina was not wearing a seatbelt. Richmond-Lenox EMS and Richmond Fire and Rescue responded to the accident which remains under investigation.
