
The Richmond Blue Devils softball team won its third straight regional title on Saturday, taking down St. Clair and North Branch at Detroit Country Day. Richmond defeated St. Clair 3-1 in the semi-finals, as Evelyn Swantek went three for three with two runs scored. The Blue Devils scored twice in the third inning on an RBI single by Samantha Christensen and a throwing error, and added a run in the seventh on another Saints error. The Saints scored their run in the fifth off two Richmond errors on a wet rainy afternoon. The Blue Devils face North Branch in the final. The Broncos beat host Country Day 4-3 in their semi-final. Richmond raced out to a 6-0 lead and won the game 11-5. Shea Van Scoter picked up the win and added a single, double, and three run home run at the plate. Cameron Barrett added three hits and an RBI for Richmond, while Samantha Christensen had two hits and an RBI and Tayler Xerri had two hits. Richmond heads to Novi on Tuesday for the quarterfinals, where they will face Dearborn Divine Child.
