A one-year-old child is safe and a teenage suspect is in custody after a stolen vehicle incident in Port Huron led to a high-speed chase across multiple jurisdictions Thursday night.

According to Port Huron Police Lieutenant Chris Bean, the incident began shortly after 9 p.m. when a car was stolen from a gas station in the 2600 block of Pine Grove Avenue in Port Huron with the child still inside.

The vehicle was located heading westbound on I-94 a short time later by a Marysville officer. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit as the suspect continued on I-94 into Macomb County. The chase ended near 21 Mile Road and Sugarbush Road, where authorities say the suspect struck a Macomb County Sheriff’s vehicle and two parked cars before coming to a stop.

The child was found inside the vehicle unharmed. The suspect is being held at a Macomb County juvenile center. Charges are expected to be filed later today.
