With just over a week to go before the 105th annual Rotary International Day Parade, organizers have announced longtime city leader Nancy Winzer as this year’s Grand Marshal. The Rotary Club of Port Huron says Winzer, who recently retired after more than 30 years with the City of Port Huron, was selected in recognition of her decades of public service, including her roles as Director of Parks and Recreation and Deputy City Manager. Winzer is credited with transforming the city’s parks and recreation system into one of the region’s top attractions, leading efforts to add ADA-accessible playgrounds and kayak launches, as well as countless other projects throughout the city.
The Rotary Parade marks the official start of Boat Week, leading up to the 101st running of the Bayview Mackinac Race. This year’s parade steps off Wednesday, July 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of Huron and Glenwood in downtown Port Huron. Live parade coverage will be broadcast on AM 1380 WPHM.
