
Officers with the Canada Border Services Agency are reporting another sizable cocaine shipment was stopped from entering Canada across the Blue Water Bridge.
Agency officials say a commercial truck entering Canada from the United States on February 19th was sent for a secondary inspection at the Point Edward crossing. During a search of the trailer, border officers discovered and seized 111.4 kg’s of suspected cocaine, which converts to roughly 245 lbs..
Officers arrested 29-year-old Sarkaren Vir Singh of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and 25-year-old Chamkaur Singh of Belleville, Ontario. Both men, along with the uncovered narcotics, were turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The suspects have since been charged with the importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The case is now before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia.
CBSA officials say that since January 1st, 2025, officers in Southern Ontario have seized more than 1,700 kg’s, or 3,748 lbs. of cocaine entering the country from the United States.
