As summer break approaches, the YMCA of the Blue Water Area is gearing up for a full schedule of youth programs and community fitness offerings.

CEO, Josh Chapman tells the Blue Water News Network, Camp Wanacombak begins June 16 at Garfield Elementary and runs through the end of summer break. The day camp includes outdoor activities, reading and STEM-based projects, and field trips to places like amusement parks, sporting events and more. Additional options for youth include swim programs, cooking and art clubs, and teen nights hosted at the YMCA.

Free outdoor fitness classes are also being offered to the public through Wellness on the Plaza at McMorran. Over a dozen classes are scheduled weekly, led by YMCA staff and local fitness professionals. Sign-up is not required but is recommended to ensure space is available. Participants will need to fill out a waiver and anyone between the ages of 10 and 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Financial assistance is available for YMCA Summer Camp to families who qualify. More information and registration links can be found at BlueWaterYMCA.com.
