Ice breaking efforts along the lower Black River in the City of Port Huron are expected to commence Monday. Residents are being asked to plan for disruptions including intermittent bridge openings at the Military, 7th, and 10th street bridges. Property owners in flood-prone areas are asked to move items such as lawn furniture, floating docks, and watercraft away from the water and to not venture out on the ice. The city is once again contracting with Purdy Fisheries in Point Edward to use an ice-breaking tug to break up any ice jams to insure water on the Black River flows more freely. There is no estimated time of completion.
