Port Huron Police are giving the “all clear” after reports of possible gunfire prompted a lockdown of Cleveland Elementary School yesterday afternoon. Just after 1pm, authorities received reports of the noise, and as a precaution lockdown procedures were activated while police searched the school and surrounding area for the source.

It was quickly determined the sound was not gunfire but instead that of equipment from a nearby work site. Police are thanking school staff, students, and parents for their patience and cooperation during the response. They also express appreciation to the community for staying vigilant and reporting the situation.
