Seasonal respiratory illnesses like the flu, COVID, and RSV are on the rise. Amy Bishop, St. Clair County Health Department Director of Nursing, says the winter months seem to be the worst for seasonal illnesses as more people tend to be indoors where respiratory illnesses are easily spread. She tells WPHM simple things like frequent hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and getting plenty of rest are some of the best preventative steps you can take to help keep you and your family healthy this time of year. If you’re not feeling well, Bishop says, it’s important to see a primary care doctor early to help identify the cause and potentially reduce your symptoms and limit your downtime.
