
Today is National Dump the Pump day and Blue Water Area Transit is celebrating with free rides throughout the day. The event put on annually by the American Public Transportation Association is observed by hundreds of transit systems all over the country. BWAT General Manager, Dave McElroy says after people learn how easy it is to ride the bus, they often continue to use public transit. Blue Water Area Transit covers fixed routes throughout Port Huron, and features a Dial-a-Ride system serving passengers in Marysville and Fort Gratiot, Burchville, and Port Huron Townships. Typical fare is 80 cents per ride and is discounted for school-aged children, senior citizens, and riders with disabilities. And children under 6 ride free with an adult.
