A modified demolition permit for the Pere Marquette Railroad bridge has been approved by the City of Port Huron. This comes after contractors working for the Port Huron Yacht Club started multiple fires Tuesday, prompting a pause in the demolition process. Port Huron Fire Chief Corey Nicholson tells WPHM all combustible materials must be sprayed with water prior to cutting and then sprayed again at the end of the day. This will require the Adamo Group to install equipment on the bridge such as pumps and hoses. Once the equipment is installed, which is expected to take approximately two days, demolition work can commence.
