Port Huron City Council will hold their final meeting of 2022 this evening, which will include a first reading of a new ordinance that changes the city’s building and blight codes.

The proposed amendments modify non owner-occupied residential dwelling fees, changing registration fees from annual to biennial, and monitoring fees from quarterly to annually. It also makes slight modifications to what is deemed “exemplarily” non owner-occupied dwellings, allowing landlords to be certified for a four year period instead of a two year period.

Councilmembers are also expected to receive and file two notifications from the Liquor Control Commission for a microbrewery at the former Pere Marquette Depot in the 200 block of Court Street and for a new axe throwing venue in the 400 block of Quay Street. Port Huron City Council meets tonight at 7pm at the municipal office center.
