Those hoping to soon shop at a downtown Port Huron Grocery Store will need to wait a little longer. Country Style Market owners Steve and Michelle Fernandez say supply chain issues have pushed back the expected opening of the store at Huron and Grand River Avenues. Speaking to WPHM, Steve Fernandez says they view it as a bit of a blessing in disguise, giving the couple more time to train their staff and decorate their store.

“(It’s) like a living museum for grocery stores… lot of old fashioned stuff, a really cool theme we are going to try to pull off,” said Fernandez. “The upside to all this delay is that it’s going to give us more time for the decoration aspect and the people aspect.”

The couple had most recently planned for an October 29th grand opening but Fernandez says the availability of construction materials, appliances, and elevator parts means they will need to push back that opening date. He says greater than 85% of the store is currently complete and hopes the rest of it will be finished by January of 2022.
