The St. Clair county Department of Veterans Affairs will be collecting worn and tattered US flags unfit to be flown anymore at a new collection box at their offices in Port Huron. The box is located inside the county building at 200 Grand River Avenue, Suite 104, in Downtown Port Huron. The department will then hand over the flags to American Legion Post 8 for proper disposal. The new flag retirement box was made possible through a statewide initiative by the Michigan Association of Counties to place one in each of Michigan’s 83 counties.
