Two Sanilac County officers receive lifesaving award

A pair of officers from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department are credited for saving the live of an man in Marlette last week. According to Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich, Deputy Chad Schmidt responded to a medical call in the 6000 block of Ervin Street in Marlette April 2nd. A 27 year old had overdosed on heroin and Deputy Schmidt administered Narcan. Sargent Christopher Kravitsky from the Sheirff’s office also responded to the call and administered a second dose of the lifesaving drug and the subject started breathing again and regained consciousness. It is the second time in less than seven days that Narcan was used to treat an overdose and ultimately save someones life.
