There will be a special session meeting of Port Huron City Council Thursday to discuss the possibility of allowing the sale of recreational marijuana in the city. Set for 6pm at the Municipal Office Center, the joint meeting will consist of members of both city council and the planning commission. A draft ordinance would allow for the sale, processing, and transportation of adult use cannabis in the city. It would not permit commercial growing, consumption lounges, or marijuana related events. The recreational pot issue was first introduced in the city fifteen months ago, with council members deciding to opt-out of allowing such shops, in order to gather more input and determine best practices.
