Pedestrian struck and killed on M-53 in Imlay City

One has died following a crash between a car and a pedestrian in Imlay City. According to the Imlay City Police Department, the vehicle was traveling northbound on M-53 around 4am Friday morning. The driver, a 36 year old from Sterling Heights, told police that the pedestrian was standing in the roadway and did not move.  He reportedly attempted to stop but was unsuccessful and struck the pedestrian. The victim is identified as 24 year old resident from Attica and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police believe alcohol and drug use by the pedestrian may  have contributed to the incident.
