More than 1.5 million students in Michigan will be getting a three week break thanks to corona virus. Governor Whitmer ordered all K-thru-12 schools closed starting Monday after the number of confirmed cases of corona virus jumped from two to 12. Michigan State Superintendent Michael Rice says closing K-12 school buildings is the responsible choice that will minimize the risk of exposure for children, educators, and families and mitigate the spread of corona virus. State officials say they will continue to work closely with partners in state government to help students and educators in each school district get through this time. Governors across the country, including Mike DeWine of Ohio, have taken similar steps to close schools and ensure the protection of children and families in their states
