A couple hundred plungers are expected to take to Lakeside Beach in Port Huron Saturday for a quick dip in Lake Huron to benefit local charities. Michelle Shepley of the Port Huron Kiwanis Club tells WPHM the Polar Bear Plunge serves as the chief fundraiser of the local club. Shepley says it’s also a good way to help out other non profit organizations as well. Kiwanis will share 50% of any money under $1000 with another non profit. She says the split increases to 60% for money raised over $1000. “A lot of our organizations have found that this is a great way to fund raise,” said Shepley. “It’s easy for them, it’s quick, and we (Kiwanis) do all the work.” Registration for the 18th Polar Bear Plunge starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeside beach. Plungers will take to the lake at high noon. For more information you can contact Shepley at 300-3554.
