It’s regarded as Port Huron’s “other” lighthouse. That’s the Huron Light ship, located along the St. Clair River near Pine Grove Park. The historic light ship is all to familiar with the high water levels that have plagued much of the Great Lakes region this year. According to the Port Huron Museum, part of the seawall next to the light ship has been compromised and is in need of repairs. Those repairs will be made possible through funding by both the city and a local non profit, according to Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp. At Monday night’s city council meeting, up to $11,000 was approved to fund the seawall repairs. The Acheson Community Foundation will also be contributing about $20,000 to the project. The total cost of the seawall repair is expected to be $31,000 and work will be performed by Thumb Welding.
