Police investigate threat reported at Port Huron Northern

A new suspect has been identified in connection to a threat made at Port Huron Northern High School last week. According to the Port Huron Police Department, the 15 year old student that was questioned in regards to a threat made Friday has been cleared of all wrongdoings. The threat was believed to have target as school pep assembly Friday afternoon. The Port Huron Police Department says another 15 year old student at the high school was found to have started the rumor and that he could face charges of filing a false report and threatening violence against a school, both which are 93 day misdemeanors.

The Port  Huron Police Department is investigating a threat of violence against Port Huron Northern High School. Authorities say a 15 year old student allegedly made a threat to bring a weapon to a pep assembly on Friday afternoon. The threat was reported to police by staff members at Port Huron Northern. The Port Huron Police responded to the 15 year old student’s Port Huron home and took him into custody. Upon further investigation it was determined the threat was vague and non-specific. He was interviewed and released to appear,  pending further investigations.  The Port Huron Police encourage students and the public to report any threat of violence to authorities immediately by calling or texting 911, or by using the anonymous CAPTURE tip line at 987-6688.
