Man sought after St. Clair church fire

Authorities in St. Clair are searching for a suspect who broke into a church and set fire to an alter. The St. Clair Police Department says the suspect entered St. Mary’s Catholic Church around 2am Tuesday morning and set fire to the parish’s main alter and another holy table. The suspect is described as a white man with a thin build, he was wearing dark clothing, a poncho, and glasses. He is believed to have broken into the church from North 9th Street around 2 am Tuesday morning, fleeing the scene around 2:45 am in the same direction.
