Head on collision victim dies from injuries

One of victims of a head on collision on M-53 near Brown City earlier this month has died. According to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department, 28 year old Zachary Lanctot of Carsonville died at McLaren Lapeer Hospital Sunday night stemming from injuries sustained int he February 1st crash. Sheriff’s deputies say two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on M-53 in Burnside Township on Friday, February 1st,  when blowing snow caused near white out conditions. A pickup truck, operated by a 30 year old Lapeer man, crossed the center line and struck Lanctot’s car. The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department says reduced visibility was a contributing factor in the crash.

Two are recovering after a serious accident Wednesday afternoon near Brown City. According to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department, two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on M-53 in Burnside Township when blowing snow caused near white out conditions. A pickup truck, operated by a 30 year old Lapeer man, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car driven by a 28 year old Carsonville man. They were taken a Lapeer area hospital for treatment. Sheriff’s officials say reduced visibility was a contributing factor in the crash and investigations continue.
