One local school superintendent is looking forward to what a Gretchen Whitmer administration will mean for public education. Dr. Shawn Wightman, Superintendent of the Marysville Public School District, believes the change in tide in Lansing will be good news for educators. Wightman, speaking to our Paul Miller last week says, “Regardless of where your child goes to school, I think she’s going to be a great governor for public schools.” Wightman added that he expects her to be an “advocate” for public education. Along with some new faces in Lansing, there will also be some new faces on the Marysville School Board. Wightman says newly elected members Michelle Kut and Ben Lasher will be seated on the board in January, along with re-elected members Kevin Palmeteer and David Schmorrow. The new board will hold their first regular session meeting January 17th.
