Marine City started fast and then held off Clawson 21-12 on Saturday night in first round action in the state high school football playoffs. Jack Kretzschmar rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns for the Mariners, who raced out to a 21-0 fist quarter lead. Marine City will host Harper Woods in a district final game next weekend at East China Stadium. In other action on Saturday, Peck fell 33-6 at Portland St. Patrick, and New Haven Merritt lost in overtime to Tenkonsha 28-22.
