No. 12 Notre Dame opened the season with a pair of quick touchdowns, then held off No. 14 Michigan 24-17 on Saturday night in college football action in South Bend, Indiana. Ambry Thomas returned a kick off 99 yards for Michigan’s first touchdown of the game, while Shea Patterson was 20 of 30 for 227 yards and an interception in his Wolverine’s debut. Michigan is home next Saturday at noon to face Western Michigan.
