Several thousand are believed to have participated in yesterday’s Port Huron Float Down – the annual unsanctioned event where inflatable tubes and rafts and float down the St. Clair River. According to the Port Huron Police Department, there were no major incidents in this year’s float down. Sargent Brian Kerrigan says there were only a “couple” of arrests but nothing out of the ordinary. He also says the floaters stayed on course and there were no reports of participants ending up in Canada. A portion of the St. Clair River between Port Huron’s Lighthouse Beach and Marysville’s Chrysler Beach was closed to commercial and recreation vessels much of the day yesterday.
