Former local congresswoman turned Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller is sounding off about infrastructure funding and the Nestle company’s approval to pump Michigan groundwater. Candice Miller, speaking to WPHM’s Paul Miller yesterday, says the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s approval of a permit for Nestle to pump 400 gallons of groundwater per minute from the northwest lower peninsula is outrageous. Candice Miller also says Michigan needs to reconsider how they allocate money for road repairs, saying the state allocates dollars based solely on road mileage and does not consider the number of lanes a road has. Miller says it hurts larger counties like Macomb County which have roads and highways of multiple lanes. Macomb County accounts for 9% of the state’s population, but only receives 2% of the state’s road dollars.
