In a stunning deal just before midnight on Thursday, the Detroit Tigers traded long time star pitcher Justin Verlander to the Houston Astros for three prospects. Detroit is also reported to have sent the Astros $10 million to help with Verlander’s salary. The Tigers get pitcher Franklin Perez, outfielder Daz Cameron, and catcher Jake Rogers, all minor league players in the deal. Verlander won 183 games in 13 seasons with the Tigers, an average of 14 a year and seventh most in franchise history. His 2373 career strike outs is second most in Detroit history behind only Mickey Lolich.
