The Detroit Lions have given quarterback Matthew Stafford a five year contract extension worth $135 million. The annual salary of $27 million a season makes Stafford the highest paid player in NFL history. While Stafford is the Lions all time leader in just about every QB category, he has never won a playoff game, but will earn over $90 million in guaranteed money. The Lions close out the preseason on Thursday in Buffalo.
